Growatt SPF 5000 ES 5kW Off-Grid Solar Inverter
The Growatt SPF 5000 ES is a 5kW single-phase off-grid
solar inverter developed for 48V battery systems. It combines an inverter,
MPPT solar charge controller and AC battery charger in one unit, providing
integrated energy management for residential backup systems, remote homes,
cabins, farms, workshops and other locations with an unstable or unavailable
utility grid.
The inverter delivers 5000W of rated pure sine wave output at 230VAC and
supports a maximum PV array power of 6000W. Its built-in MPPT controller
operates within a 120–430VDC range, while the maximum permitted PV
open-circuit voltage is 450VDC.

- 5000W rated pure sine wave AC output
- 48V low-voltage battery input
- 230VAC single-phase output
- Maximum PV array power of 6000W
- Built-in MPPT solar charge controller
- Maximum solar charging current of 100A
- Maximum AC charging current of 80A
- Compatible with suitable lead-acid and lithium batteries
- PV, battery and utility charging priority settings
- Supports up to six units in parallel for system expansion
- Peak surge power up to 10000VA
48V Battery Compatibility
The Growatt SPF 5000 ES is designed for a nominal 48V battery bank. It can
be used with compatible lead-acid batteries and 48V or 51.2V lithium battery
systems, subject to the battery operating voltage, charging current,
discharging current and BMS communication requirements.
Before ordering, please provide the battery type, nominal voltage, capacity,
maximum charge and discharge current and communication protocol. Lithium
battery compatibility should be confirmed according to the battery BMS and
the inverter firmware version.
PV and Off-Grid Operation
The inverter can supply connected loads using solar power, battery power or
AC input according to the selected operating priority. When solar generation
is available, PV energy can power the loads and charge the battery. When PV
generation is insufficient, the battery or AC input can provide additional
power according to the system settings.
The SPF 5000 ES is an off-grid inverter and should not be described as a
standard grid-feed inverter. Although it accepts utility or generator AC
input for bypass operation and battery charging, it is primarily intended
for standalone power and backup applications.

FAQ
Is the Growatt SPF 5000 ES a single-phase or three-phase inverter?
A single SPF 5000 ES provides 230VAC single-phase output. It should not be
listed as a standard three-phase inverter. More complex phase configurations
require multiple compatible units and correct parallel system design.
Can the SPF 5000 ES work without the utility grid?
Yes. It is designed for off-grid and backup power applications and can supply
loads using solar panels and a compatible 48V battery bank without a utility
grid connection.
Can it work without a battery?
The SPF ES series can support battery-free operation under suitable PV and
load conditions. However, a correctly sized battery is recommended when
stable backup power or night-time operation is required.
Can it work with a 51.2V LiFePO4 battery?
Yes, it can work with compatible 51.2V LiFePO4 batteries. The battery operating
voltage, BMS communication, charging current and discharging current must be
confirmed before system installation.
What is the maximum solar panel capacity?
The SPF 5000 ES supports up to 6000W of PV array power. Solar string voltage
must remain within the permitted MPPT range, and the total open-circuit voltage
must remain below 450VDC under all operating conditions.
How many units can operate in parallel?
Up to six compatible SPF 5000 ES units can be connected in parallel when the
correct parallel communication accessories and installation configuration are
used.
What information is required for a system recommendation?
Please provide the load power, peak starting power, daily energy consumption,
required backup time, solar panel quantity, battery voltage and battery
capacity. We can then recommend an appropriate inverter, battery and PV
configuration.
